Busy, Busy, Busy

Lately, I’ve been immersed in writing pursuits. It’s amazing how much time it can take to get them onto some medium, be it an electronic document or the standby of thousands of years—paper.

The next step is even longer, reading through the new creations to make corrections, taking breaks in between. You need those breaks. Otherwise, your mind fixes the mistakes, and the piece reads as you intended regardless of what is really written.

Recently, I’ve guest blogged for Delilah Devlin, a bestselling author of romance. Here’s a link if you haven’t read it yet or would like to read it again. Its title is “Maybe Muses Do Whisper in Your Ear”.

I submitted a piece for a national story contest. My entry didn’t place, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. You have to take it in stride and not give up. Some of today’s very successful authors have been rejected multiple times, but they believed in their work and continued the quest. If you’d like to take a look at it, click “Spaceships”.

Yesterday, I finished an entry for another competition. It’s a stream of consciousness story about a woman braving the hordes on Black Friday. The whole story is told by what she’s thinking as she navigates through her encounters at the mall on the day after Thanksgiving. It was fun to write, and I definitely put some of my own shopping experiences into the endeavor. I should know the fate of “Battles of the Bargain” by next week.

Today, I have to get ready for the 2nd Annual Friends of Shockoe Hill Cemetery’s Book Fair on Saturday at the Crossroads Art Center in Richmond. The details are on the event page of my website. Clicking Crossroads Art Center will take you to the information. I hope you can stop by and say HI.

Happy Writing!
